NJ middle school principal charged with DUI following crash

WEST ORANGE, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A middle school principal in New Jersey was arrested Tuesday night for driving under the influence during a crash, authorities said.

Aretha M. Dooley-Malloy, 51, was driving on Rock Spring Road in West Orange around 11:45 p.m. when the crash occurred, causing her front and rear air bags to deploy, according to a police report.

Dooley-Malloy caused damages to a small brick wall, a sprinkler head and the lawn of one home were damaged, the report said.

A retaining wall and plant were also damaged at the home next door.

She was not injured.

Dooley-Malloy was issued a summons for DUI, driving an unregistered vehicle and failing to possess and insurance card, and failing to give consent for breath samples.

She recently began working as principal of Liberty Middle School.
