NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey 9-1-1 dispatcher was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly illegally accessing and leaking a police report.
The case was linked to an incident in July involving Mayor Steve Fulop's city SUV, according to reports by NJ.com.
Rose Davis, a 58-year-old acting telecommunications supervisor and 9-1-1 dispatcher in Jersey City, is charged with one count of computer criminal activity, a second-degree offense, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
Davis, who served the city for 17 years, is accused of using a city computer to access records for personal purposes, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated, though specific details were not disclosed.
The charge relates to the obtained document as a draft report on the July 13 incident, where Fulop's vehicle, with him as a passenger, was involved in a minor collision with an e-scooter in Hoboken.
This report was allegedly leaked to Hudson County View, which reported the incident on July 18, citing 'documents obtained.
Davis has been released pending her first court appearance scheduled for Dec. 7.
Following her arrest, she was suspended without pay.
"It is unfortunate that a trusted 9-1-1 dispatcher could conduct themselves in such an unlawful manner, and the administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any misconduct," Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione, Jersey City spokeswoman, told NJ.com.
Wallace-Scalcione confirmed that all evidence from an internal investigation was handed over to the prosecutor's office.
Davis was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus and is currently facing allegations for misusing her position to access and distribute confidential information.
