
LODI, N.J. (1010 WINS) — The superintendent for Lodi Public Schools in Bergen County was arrested for punching a woman in the head and fighting a man who tried to intervene in Ocean County, according to court records obtained by NJ.com.

Douglas Petty, 46, was arrested in Seaside Heights on Sunday after a traffic officer saw the attack around 1:20 a.m.
“Officer Farrell observed the [suspect] strike a female in the head with a closed fist,” said Detective Steve Korman of the Seaside Heights Police Department. The officer said the male victim then approached Petty and “after a brief verbal altercation a physical altercation ensued between the two.”
Authorities charged Petty for assault and disorderly conduct.
Petty’s lawyer told NJ.com that he pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a woman who said she is Petty's assistant told declined to give a comment to the publication.
