GUTTENBERG, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey teenager was sentenced to two years in prison for making at least one threatening phone call to a high school in Florida in 2022, authorities said.

Brad Parga, of Guttenberg, swatted Milton High School in Milton on Feb. 14, 2022, prompting a massive law enforcement response. He was 17 at the time.

Swatting is defined as making malicious hoax calls to emergency services to falsely report an ongoing emergency such as a violent crime or explosive device at a certain location. The intent is to cause large-scale deployment of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, bomb squads, and other police resources. according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Parga, now 18-years-old, was sentenced on Nov. 14 to making false report using firearms in a violent manner and interfering with school administration. He also received three years of probation.

Authorities said Parga is suspected of making other calls, but has only been convicted in the Valentine's Day incident.

Police arrested Parga at his Guttenberg home in February 2023 and was then transported to Santa Rosa County to face the charges.
