NJ to adopt CDC's indoor mask guidance before Memorial Day weekend: reports

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey will adopt the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new mask guidance ahead of Memorial Day weekend, according to reports.

Murphy is expected to make the announcement on Monday, NJ.com reported.

New York and Connecticut have already adopted the guidance, which says that fully vaccinated people may stop wearing masks indoors in many situations.

"Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, rules and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance," the CDC says on its website.

Last week, Murphy said New Jersey would wait at least a few weeks to lift its indoor mask mandate.

"We will get there, as it relates to indoor masking. It's only a matter of time," he said. "[But if you're in a business and a public setting, we're not there yet. We're frankly not there yet."
