NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A Union City woman was arrested after police raided a North Bergen storage locker packed with 100 stolen guns and 200 stolen large capacity magazines, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced on Saturday.

The guns were stolen in transit between a firearms importer in Vermont and a Louisiana wholesaler. Claudine Kammo, 43, was the owner of the storage unit where the stolen guns were found. Police arrested her after the raid.

“Keeping illegal weapons out of our communities to combat gun violence is a law enforcement strategy that transcends state lines,” said Attorney General Matthew Platkin. “Each of the handguns seized was accompanied by two large capacity magazines, which are illegal to possess in both states. ”

Prosecutors charged Kammo with unlawful possession of firearms, receiving stolen property, gun permit violations and unlawful possession of large capacity magazines.

She faces up to 18 years in prison if convicted on all counts with a mandatory minimum of eight years.
