GARFIELD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Hoboken-bound NJ Transit train on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The man was struck at 7:49 a.m. in the area of Outwater Lane near the Garfield station in Bergen County, according to NJ Transit.
The train left Suffern, New York, at 7:09 a.m. and there were about 600 passengers on board.
Service on the Bergen Line was suspended in both directions as of 9 a.m, according to a transit spokesman.
NJ Transit police are investigating.
