UNION, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A pedestrian was struck and killed buy an SUV driver backing out of driveway in New Jersey last week, authorities said.
The Union Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Spruce Street in Union at about 3:19 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.
According to officials, a 62-year-old man was reversing from a driveway in a 2004 black Chevrolet Suburban when he struck a pedestrian walking west on Spruce Street.
The pedestrian was transported to University Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Union Police implemented an alternate traffic pattern, detouring Spruce Street for about four hours while the crash scene was being investigated.
