HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) — One person was injured when a small plane crashed shortly after taking off at the Hartford-Brainard Airport on Saturday, according to officials.

The pilot was flying a Lancair IV-P, a small, single-engine prop plane, around 3:45 p.m. when it crashed on the runway, the Connecticut Airport Authority told NBC Connecticut.

The pilot ejected before the plane crashed. Emergency responders said the pilot suffered burns and a possible fracture but was responsive when they arrived.

The airport was closed after the crash.
