HACKENSACK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey hospital welcomed its newest addition earlier this month: a baby red-tailed hawk.

The hatchling, dubbed “Baby Hawkensack,” was born on the roof of Hackensack University Medical Center on May 7, the hospital said in a press release.
Hospital employees got a chance to watch Hawkensack’s mother and father build their nest ahead of the baby bird’s birth, the release said.

All three hawks are “doing well” following the delivery, according to the release.
“Having learned that red tailed hawks, like these, stay strongly attached to their nesting territory, we look forward to the Hawkensack Family being with us for some time,” the hospital said.
