NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- We've heard of snakes on a plane -- whether it's Samuel L. Jackson's 2006 film or the reality of current air travel -- but snakes in ... a dorm room?
That's exactly what happened at Rutgers University, where campus police found a baby python in a student residence.
Rutgers police received a report that the snake was in a room in Voorhees Residence Hall on the Cook Campus in New Brunswick, the department said.
"Upon arrival, Officer Rebecca Phillips located and safely removed a baby python," the department said Monday in a Facebook post, with a photo of Phillips holding the reptile.
The python was turned over to New Brunswick Animal Control.
Students must receive approval to keep support animals in their rooms, according to the university.
“Unwanted animals should never be released,” said Rutgers University police.
