"The theme park will remain closed for the rest of the day. Crews are working diligently to restore power and the park is expected to open at 10:30 am tomorrow," the park said on Twitter Friday afternoon. "Guests with tickets for July 22 may use their tickets through Labor Day. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."
The park's Hurricane Harbor and the Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure are operating as scheduled.
A power surge that occurred before the park's scheduled opening caused a lengthy delay in the opening of the theme park on Friday morning. Officials had earlier sought to open the park on Friday afternoon.
Despite the fact that hundreds of people waited all day amid a heat advisory, as NBC New York reported, the park did offer free admission to the Wild Safari and Hurricane Harbor.
Park-goers who don't plan to return can request refunds, according to the report.
