ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) — The Federal Aviation Administration and State Police are investigating after a Michigan skydiver jumped to his death near a Hunterdon County airport on Friday.

Brandon M. Jackson, 37, of Troy, Michigan, was discovered laying in a field close to the runway of Alexandria Field Airport when State Troopers responded to a call for medical assistance at about 2:30 p.m., NJ.com reported.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

FAA spokeswoman Maria Njoku told the outlet that the agency was made aware of the incident and that an investigation was underway.

"FAA investigations of skydiving accidents and incidents typically focus on inspecting the packing of the parachute and reserve parachute, and rules of flight for the pilot and aircraft," she said.

State Police did not release any other immediate details at this time.

The airport manager did not respond to the outlet's request for comment.
