ALBANY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- New York Attorney General Letitia James joined five other state attorneys general in demanding the NFL take action against workplace gender discrimination in response to a damning New York Times report.

The Times published the accounts of over 30 former NFL employees who described a culture of sexism and discrimination in the league.
Accounts from the former employees include descriptions of unwanted touching, work parties where prostitutes were hired, stereotyping, being passed over for promotion based on gender and retaliation for complaining about discrimination.
Some of the women later discovered their complaints were not even recorded.
“No woman should ever be subjected to the sort of harassment, disrespect, discrimination, and abuse these brave women have described,” said James. “The NFL must finally make good on its promise and do better — pink jerseys are not a replacement for equal treatment and full inclusion of women in the workplace.”
The discrimination described in the report violates state anti-discrimination laws.
In a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, James threatened to investigate and prosecute the NFL unless the league takes concrete steps to end the ongoing harassment.
Attorneys general from Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington also signed the letter.
