MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — An alpaca was on the loose in Westchester on Thursday morning, but responding officers were soon able to corral the escaped animal and return it to its owner.

“There’s a llama on the loose on Kisco Avenue!,” the Westchester Police Department wrote on social media, recounting the 911 call that came in at 10:09 a.m. and alerted them to the animal.

“Turns out it was [actually] an alpaca that was on the lam, but still a pretty good initial description compared to some we get,” the department quipped.

The alpaca had slipped out of a trailer near Hotel MTK on Pat Reilly Way before making its way to the Land Rover dealership on Kisco Avenue, police said.

“Maybe it was looking to upgrade its ride?,” police joked.

Officers Mirko and Rodriguez were able to round up the animal safely, transport it to the Green Street precinct and reunite the furry creature with its grateful owner.

“We’re taking a guess here, but we think somewhere there’s a kid’s birthday party that went on just as planned,” the department said.
