ATV driver critically injured in Long Island hit-and-run

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 31-year-old man driving an ATV vehicle on Long Island over the weekend was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision, police said.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. on Saturday along the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and South Franklin Street in Hempstead, according to officials.

Police said the man was operating an ATV at the intersection when he was struck by another vehicle that fled the scene north on South Franklin Street, officials said.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Detectives on Long Island are searching for a newer model, dark-colored Nissan sedan.
