COPIAGUE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a teenage boy on Thursday, authorities said.
Amir Porterfield, 15, was walking at the crosswalk on eastbound Sunrise Highway at 35th Street in Copiague when he was struck by a woman driving a 1999 Subaru.
Porterfield was lying in the roadway when he was struck by another driver, who fled the scene, officials said.
Porterfield the Subaru driver were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip.
Porterfield died from his injuries.
The 65-year-old Subaru driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Subaru was impounded for a safety check.
