NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced that COVID is now the third leading cause of death in America. and blamed President Donald Trump for the coronavirus-related deaths of New Yorkers.

"I hold Donald Trump responsible for every death in New York from COVID," Cuomo said.

He added that the reason behind so many COVID deaths were because because of Trump's alleged lies.

"It was his lie that said this is nothing to worry about," Cuomo said, adding that "Trump was patient zero in the United States."

Cuomo also announced that there are 43 U.S. states are on New York's quarantine list.

During his briefing, Cuomo said there is "no practical way to quarantineNew York from New Jersey and Connecticut, but said non-essential travel should be avoided.

"We are going to be working with Connecticut and New Jersey to see how we can help them with their spikes and also talk to Connecticut and New Jersey about making it clear that clear that to the extent that travel among the states or between the states is not essential, it should be avoided."

Cuomo added that he would not move to add New Jersey and Connecticut to its quarantine list but said he is open to limiting non-essential tri-state travel.

"There are just too many interchanges, there are too many interconnections, there are too many people who live in one place and work in the other. It would have a disastrous effect on the economy."
