
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A driver was critically injured while his passenger was killed when the car he was in struck a tree on Long Island Sunday night, authorities said.
According to detectives, at 10:35 p.m., a Nassau County Police Medic discovered a vehicular accident on Peninsula Boulevard in Rockville Centre, approximately a mile south of the Southern State Parkway.
A 24-year-old man was driving a 2006 Mini Cooper southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
A male passenger in his twenties was pronounced at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
