NORTH WOODMERE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a 26-year-old man for drunk driving following a fatal car crash on Long Island over the weekend, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 4:29 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, in North Woodmere.
Officers responded to Rosedale Road near the intersection of Lawrence Court for an auto accident where a 2023 Toyota traveling northwest had lost control and overturned.
Aaron Cooper was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The 22-year-old passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Department medic.
Cooper was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Cooper was charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, assault, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
He will be arraigned when medically practical.
Cooper was a former NYPD officer who was fired last year for pulling his gun during an argument over a parking space, according to the Daily News.
