Fake Microsoft employee nearly scams LI man, 82, out of life savings: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man pretending to be a Microsoft employee was arrested on Wednesday after almost convincing a victim to withdraw all of his savings, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in East Meadow, an 82-year-old male victim received a message on his computer from an unknown individual claiming to be a Microsoft employee, cops said.

The scammer told the victim that his bank accounts had been compromised and instructed him to withdraw all of his savings while awaiting further instructions on where to deliver the funds.

Before completing the transaction, the victim became suspicious and contacted the police.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to locate and arrest Zongjin Teng, 26, on Wednesday.

Teng was charged with grand larceny and attempted grand larceny.
