ORISKANY, N.Y. (AP) — A food service worker was arrested Sunday on charges of smuggling drugs into a jail in upstate New York, authorities said.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office got a tip that a worker was transporting contraband into the county jail, Sheriff Robert Maciol said in a news release.
A bundle containing several packets of heroin, a hypodermic needle and spoon, Suboxone strips and tablets, marijuana and match boxes was found on food service worker Shawn M. Stevens, Maciol said.
Stevens, 41, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and promoting prison contraband.
It wasn’t clear whether Stevens had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
