HOLBROOK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island couple has been indicted on major drug trafficking charges after a police investigation led to the seizure of approximately $2 million in narcotics from their home.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney on Tuesday announced the indictment of Caleb Moran, 28, and Jessica Medina-Rivas, 28, for operating as a major trafficker, among other charges.

"This wasn’t just a drug bust. It was a ticking time bomb sitting in the middle of a quiet neighborhood," Tierney said.

According to officials, an undercover detective purchased cocaine from Medina-Rivas on July 11, prompting an investigation. Over the following weeks, detectives arranged additional drug buys, leading them to Moran, who was observed driving a vehicle that appeared to be an unmarked police car. The vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was a former Southampton Town Police Department car purchased at auction. Authorities allege the couple used the vehicle to evade detection.

"The scale of this alleged operation is almost incomprehensible; two million dollars in product is among the largest seizures in Suffolk history," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina said.

On Aug. 22, police executed a search warrant at the couple's Holbrook home, where they allegedly recovered:
-14 kilograms of cocaine
-12 kilograms of methamphetamine
-Over 3 ounces of fentanyl
-Two unregistered firearms and ammunition
-$118,000 in cash
-Bulletproof vests, digital scales, and a pill press
Both Moran and Medina-Rivas were arraigned on Sept. 22. Moran was held on $2 million cash bail, while Medina-Rivas was held on $4 million cash bail.
