CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police arrested a man and seized his dirt bike after he allegedly rode recklessly and fled from authorities on Wednesday.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on Elmer Turcios, 24, after illegally riding a 2008 Kawasaki 250 dirt bike northbound on Wilson Boulevard in Central Islip, a public roadway.
Turcios fled on the dirt bike and went to his home, at 1040 Wilson Blvd., where police arrested him on the driveway.
He was charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and was issued 20 summonses in relation to his vehicle and traffic law violations.
The dirt bike was seized and towed to the impound yard in West Hampton.
Turcios was issued a desk appearance ticket and will be arraigned at court on a later date.
