NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for stabbing his wife to death in their home in 2022 while their eight-year-old child was in his bedroom, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced Thursday.

Anthony Paruolo, 39, pleaded guilty on Dec. 4, 2024.

Danielle Paruolo, 42, was looking to separate from her husband and had been taking steps toward a divorce, which led to the incident, D.A. Donnelly said.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2022, Nassau County Police Department officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at their North Bellmore home.

When authorities arrived, they found Paruolo dead in a pool of blood with an approximately 13-inch-long chef's knife in her neck and stab wounds to her head, neck, and torso, prosecutors said.

The couple's eight-year-old child was found unharmed in another bedroom.

Suffolk County police arrested Paruolo just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 7, 2022, at a relative's home in Kings Park.

"This defendant claimed a life and shattered a family when he stabbed his wife to death in the home they shared with their son," D.A. Donnelly said. "By pleading guilty, Anthony Paruolo accepted responsibility for his horrific and senseless crime, and today's sentence ensures he is held fully accountable for the pain that he has caused. Our thoughts remain with Danielle Paruolo's family and their son as they continue to navigate this unimaginable tragedy."
