NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A store employee was arrested on Sunday on Long Island for allegedly taking photos of a child in a dressing room, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
William Veitch-Canete, 27, was working as an employee at Burlington in Commack when he allegedly reached under a changing room door with his cellphone and took pictures of a 10-year-girl as she changed her clothes at around 9:15 p.m, according to police.
The girl saw the cell phone and told her parents, who were also in the store, cops said.
The parents first confronted Veitch-Canete, and then called the police. Officers arrived at the scene and placed Veitch-Canete in custody.
Veitch-Canete was charged with unlawful surveillance and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned in Central Islip at a later date.
An investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are asking anyone with additional information or if anyone who believes they are a victim to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
