PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers rescued a man and his dog from the water on Long Island early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

According to officials, at 3:26 a.m., Ethan Brako, 20, was crabbing at Mascot Dock and Marina in Patchogue when his dog, Brina, a 2-year-old pit bull, jumped into the water.

Brako jumped in but was unable to exit the water.

Officers Kyle Profit and Tyler Mankowski-Hassett, aboard Marine X-Ray, responded to a 911 call reporting the pair in the water and rescued Brako and Brina, officials said.

Both Brako and Brina were not injured.
