BALDWIN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a man accused of stealing a package from a Long Island home on Thursday.
According to detectives, officers responded to a Baldwin residence after a 72-year-old reported that a package had been stolen from his front porch at about 11:52 a.m.
Utilizing a Ring doorbell system which recorded the incident, detectives determined that Frank Merlo, 36, was responsible for taking the package that had been delivered to the Eastern Parkway residence.
Police located the Merlo at the Baldwin Train Station at 2:50 pm and placed him into custody without incident.
Merlo was found to be in possession of a white rock like substance believed to be crack cocaine, as well as the package belonging to the victim.
Merlo was charged with petit larceny, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
