UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a man accused of attacking a worker while stealing a lighter from a Long Island 7-Eleven early Monday.
According to detectives, at 2 a.m., William Alston, 42, walked into a 7-Eleven located at 644 Jerusalem Ave. in Uniondale.
Alston walked behind the counter and took a cigarette lighter then attempted to leave the store without paying and shoved a 49-year-old employee to the ground causing an injury to the left side of his face.
Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Alston without further incident.
Alston was charged with robbery and assault.
