CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County Police arrested a 27-year-old man for leaving the scene of a car crash that killed a bicyclist last year authorities said Tuesday.
Detectives charged Junior Romero-Delcid with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality after he fled the scene of the crash that killed 65-year-old Felix Cesi Oliva Cruz.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 25., Oliva Cruz was riding a bicycle northbound across East Suffolk Avenue at Lowell Avenue in Central Islip when he was struck by two eastbound vehicles, a dark-colored small SUV and a white sedan.
Both vehicles fled the scene eastbound on East Suffolk Avenue.
Oliva Cruz was transported to South Shore University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to officials Romero-Delcid was driving a white Honda Civic and detectives are still seeking the identity of the driver of the dark-colored SUV.
Romero-Delcid is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead.
