UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Police arrested a man accused of stealing and punching a Long Island gas station worker in the face after his card was declined last week, Nassau County officials announced Monday.
Christian Hall, 33, was charged with robbery, assault, burglary and petit larceny.
Just before 2 a.m. on Friday, Hall walked into the Sunoco gas station located at 1220 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale and tried to purchase a drink and two packs of cigarettes but was unsuccessful due to his credit/debit card being declined, authorities said.
According to detectives, Hall took the drink without paying for it and attempted to leave but was stopped by a 65-year-old employee.
Hall got into a physical altercation with the employee and allegedly punched him in the face and chest before pushing him to the ground and kicking him.
He then took the two packs of cigarettes he attempted to purchase and fled the scene southbound on Cunningham Avenue, police said.
The victim was treated on scene by responding Nassau County police medics.
Hall was arrested Saturday in Uniondale, police said.
