NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — New York state issued another air quality advisory for New York City and Long Island Friday morning due to elevated ozone levels.

The warning is in effect until 11 p.m., New York City's Emergency Management department said.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation blamed excessive ground-level ozone on summer heat, car exhaust fumes and out-of-state emitters.

Wild fires from the West Coast last month led officials to issue an air quality warning, with smoke cited as the culprit behind the hazy and unhealthy conditions.

State officials are warning those who work outside, exercise outdoor, or those with asthma to consider limiting exposure, due to concerns that the air quality could cause shortness of breath, chest pain or coughing.
