NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – New York state's coronavirus-related hospitalizations reached their lowest level since early December on Sunday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said hospitalizations declined by 158 patients to 4,083—the lowest number since Dec. 2.

The number of patients in intensive care fell by five to 877, while the number of intubated patients declined by eight to 577.

The state's single-day positivity rate was 2.99% as another 6,764 cases were reported. The seven-day positivity was 3.27%.

New York City's seven-day positivity rate dropped to its lowest since Dec. 1 at 3.58%. The five boroughs reported 3,250 new cases, according to state data.

Long Island also saw a new low in its seven-day positivity rate, which dropped to 3.93%. That's the lowest level since Nov. 30, Cuomo said.

The state reported another 53 COVID-related deaths.

Cuomo said the state was "making steady progress" in getting New Yorkers vaccinated, with 189,820 doses administered in the past day and nearly 1.5 million doses administered over the past week.

Nearly one in four New Yorkers—24.4%—are now fully vaccinated, Cuomo said.

More than one in three New Yorkers have received at least one vaccine dose at 37.4%.

In all, 11,858,991 vaccine doses have been administered in the state since inoculations began, according to Cuomo.

The week 17 allocation of 1,727,225 first and second doses—the state's highest allocation to date—is expected to finish arriving Sunday, Cuomo said.
