
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- State police on Long Island arrested 19 intoxicated drivers from the roadways over the Labor Day Weekend, including two of them with a child in the car, authorities said.
On Sept. 1st, troopers arrested Emanuel Lindarte-Mujica, 25, in Nassau County for driving while intoxicated with felony charges for Leandra’s Law - a charge when there's a blood alcohol content of .08 or more, or when driving while impaired by drugs and has a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle.
Lindarte-Mujica was driving with an 8-year-old child in the vehicle. Additionally, he was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
On Sept. 4th, troopers arrested Jose Murillo, 50, in Suffolk County forfor driving while intoxicated for Leandra’s Law.
Murillo was driving with an 8-year-old child in the car.. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Troopers issued 550 tickets, including 159 for speeding in an effort to reduce collisions.
Officials also investigated 69 property damage collisions, as well as 17 injury related collisions.
