ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Suffolk County Police officer Matthew Ingui made three new furry friends when he saved a trio of dogs that were trapped alone in their Long Island home when a house fire broke out on Sunday afternoon.
Ingui responded to reports of a house fire at 181 Magnolia Dr. in Rocky Point at about 5:09 p.m. and spotted the dogs through a window.
The Magnolia Drive residents were not home at the time of the blaze, and Ingui sprang into action to pull their beloved pets to safety. According to police, the officer smashed a window, climbed through and helped the dogs out of the burning building.
After the fire, Ingui posed with the dog owner and her pups, with smiles all around.
Multiple fire departments, including Rocky Point, Ridge, Sound Beach, Miller Place and Wading River, responded to the scene.
Officials believe that the fire started accidentally.
