NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Nassau County Police on Wednesday announced that an armed suspect is facing multiple charges firing a round in the air and waving it at vehicles.

Kiber Calderon, 31, of 454 Lexington Ave. in Brooklyn, was charged with three counts of menacing, reckless endangerment, two counts of menacing a police officer, criminal contempt of court, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.


Calderon also goes by Hanna Carillo, 33, officials said.

According to detectives, at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 911 received multiple calls of a person firing a black handgun into the air in the vicinity of Jerusalem Avenue and Bellmore Avenue in North Bellmore.

Upon police arrival, officers observed Calderon pointing a black and silver handgun at passing cars and police.

An officer struck Calderon with the front passenger side of a patrol vehicle, causing them to fall to the ground with the weapon.

According to authorities, Calderon was placed into custody and a loaded firearm was recovered.

Calderon suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The officer was transported to an area hospital and is being treated for trauma.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Calderon will be arraigned when medically practical.

Calderon was previously arrested in New York City on June 8, for burglary, and on June 9, for burglary and trespassing.
