VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man and a woman pretending to be customer service reps were arrested for attempting to scam a Long Island senior out of more than $32,000 last week, authorities said.

According to detectives, on Saturday, March 16, the 67-year-old victim was having technical issues with his computer and went online to find a phone number for customer service.

The tech support number and representative advised the victim of suspicious activity on his bank account and requested $32,500 in cash to correct the problem.

The victim went to his bank and was informed by a representative that he was in fact being scammed and the victim then contacted police.

The fraudulent representative "Joshua Matthews" contacted the victim requesting photos of the money and stated a second representative "will come to his home to pick up the money," officials said.

Authorities on Monday arrested Weixu Huang, 43, of Manhattan, and Yongmei You, 41, of Brooklyn.

Huang and You were each charged with one count of attempted grand larceny.

They were released on an appearance ticket returnable on Monday, April 8.
