HAUPPAGUE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Detectives on Long Island arrested a 73-year old woman after she was allegedly captured on video beating a duck to death last week.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, the Suffolk County SPCA received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding a woman beating a duck.

Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA responded and were provided videos of the incident that occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on or about Aug. 26, in a small pond located behind The Greens in Hauppauge, authorities said.

According to officials, a woman can be seen in a video cruelly and unjustifiably beating a grey and black/brown Mallard type duck with a hard stick like object in the body, head, and neck area. The woman then pursues the duck on land and into the water. It was observed to be dead shortly after the encounter.

At approximately 10:30p.m., SPCA detectives arrested Audrey Zabielski.

She was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Zabielski is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 3.
