NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A hit-and-run driver critically hurt a woman as she was crossing a highway on Long Island Wednesday night, police said Thursday.
The 59-year-old woman was crossing Sunrise Highway at the intersection of Bayview Avenue around 10:15 p.m. when a driver in a grey SUV traveling east on the highway hit her, Suffolk County police said.
The woman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with critical injuries, according to police.
The driver fled the scene and hadn't been arrested as of Thursday afternoon, police said.
