NORTH LAWRENCE, N.Y (1010 WINS) — Nassau County police are investigating the death of a Bellport man who died when he was struck by heavy machinery at a mason yard on Long Island on Monday morning.
According to detectives, at about 9 a.m., a 33-year-old employee was driving a large payloader at a mason yard at 4 Johnson Rd. in North Lawrence when he struck another employee.
Officers responded to scene and the victim, identified as Michael Porter, 54, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
