
VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Queens woman was arrested Tuesday following a struggle with police who attempted to arrest her for stealing items from the store and then returning the items for cash, police said.
Nassau County officers responded to the Target store on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream, where the loss prevention employee had spotted Sanders concealing merchandise and exiting the store without paying.
After approaching Kenya Sanders, 30, and attempting to arrest her, she became "violent and combative" while resisting arrest, injuring two officers, according to police.
The officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators learned that Sanders was suspected of four additional larcenies at the same Target Store in Valley Stream on March 11, March 22, April 27 and May 5.
Sanders is charged with assault, two counts of petit larceny, three counts of grand larceny, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
