Tracy Snyder, 61, of Macungie, was driving her SUV around 2 p.m. heading to Jersey Shore when a tire hit her car, authorities said. The right rear tandem tires came off a dump truck on the highway traveling northbound.

The tires struck another car traveling north before one of them flew into the southbound lanes where Snyder was driving.

She was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden and was reported to have a broken vertebra in her neck and back, Keegan Moyer, her son, told NJ.com.

“She’s stable, having breathing support and vertebrae repair today,” Moyer said Friday morning.

Moyer explained that he has not been able to speak with Snyder as she is still intubated at the hospital.

“She can open her eyes and she can move, so they don’t think there’s any cord damage,” he said.

New Jersey State Police are investigating the incident.

No charges have been announced.
