NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A United flight headed to Israel from Newark Airport was forced to return three hours into its 10-hour flight due to an unruly passenger on Sunday.

An Israeli passenger sat in a seat designated for flight attendants while waiting to use the restroom and wouldn't move when requested by a crew member, YNetNews.com reported. He then argued with flight attendants.

The man was escorted off the plane that was headed to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport and arrested for misbehaving and speaking rudely to the flight crew when it arrived back in Newark, according to the report.

"United flight 90 traveling from Newark to Tel Aviv returned to Newark shortly after takeoff due to a disruptive passenger," United Airlines said in a statement. "Law enforcement met the aircraft and removed the passenger. A new flight was scheduled to depart Sunday evening."

United Flight 90 left Newark at 12:48 a.m. on Sunday and arrived back at the airport at 6:28 a.m., according to FlightAware.

When it took off, the flight was nearly two hours behind schedule. Its scheduled departure time was 10:55 p.m.
