4TH OF JULY FORECAST: Severe storms, sweltering heat threaten holiday plans in NYC area

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Heavy storms will threaten the New York City area with flooding downpours and strong wind gusts on Tuesday, but the wild weather will hopefully clear for the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks Tuesday night, according to AccuWeather.

The steamy, turbulent weather will continue Tuesday as the nation marks Independence Day. The high will be 86 with RealFeels again approaching 100.

A mix of clouds and sun is expected this afternoon with a drenching thunderstorm, lasting until early evening.

It will be warm and humid as storms are expected to subside in time for the Macy's fireworks show on the East River at 9:25 p.m.
