NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Friday’s heat will give way to more mild and comfortable warmth on Saturday, just in time for New Yorkers to flood the streets in celebration of Irish heritage at the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday. Spring temperatures are expected to linger through Sunday, until the cold returns at the start of the work week.
Despite clouds and a shower or two early Friday afternoon, the sun will peak out amid a high of 73 in the city, according to AccuWeather. On Long Island, the afternoon high will only reach 60.

It will be breezy and warm in the city before clouds return Friday evening, and nighttime will become brisk and chillier as it ushers in more characteristic temperatures with a low of 46.
Warmth will return on Saturday in time for Manhattan’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, and the sun is expected to beat out any cloud coverage with a daytime high of 59.

AccuWeather said that early Sunday morning could see some showers through clouds and intervals of sun, but lead into a breezy and mild day. The high is expected to reach 62.

The weekend respite from the cold will end come Monday morning ahead of a daytime mix of sun and clouds. It will become increasingly windy, AccuWeather said, with potential afternoon showers, especially north and west of the city.
While Monday’s high will hit 50, RealFeel temps will remain in the 30s.
The temperature drop will continue into the week, with the highs on Tuesday and Wednesday in the mid- to upper-40s.
According to AccuWeather forecasts, lingering storms are part of a pattern for late March across the East Coast.

In preparation for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, New Yorkers should be aware of the street closures Manhattan will face.
