NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — After the past week’s heat advisory, temperatures are taking a big dip for the holiday weekend, leaving New Yorkers with a wet and chilly Memorial Day.
Friday night will hit a low of 55, and a little rain will approach the city from the southwest around daybreak, according to AccuWeather. This will lead into what the forecaster described as a “breezy, damp, raw and chilly” day with early rain that will only become steadier into Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s high will be 56, but New Yorkers can expect it to stay mainly in the lower 50s throughout the afternoon showers. A soaking rain, heavy at times, will come down at night, and flooding is possible on streets, highways and in poor drainage areas.
It will be breezy and cool Sunday with periods of rain in the early afternoon as the high hits 60, AccuWeather said. It will stay cloudy and damp going into the remainder of the day.
Memorial Day itself will be mainly cloudy, albeit warmer and more humid, with a high of 70. A couple of showers are expected early, but AccuWeather said the “best case scenario” is that it will be mainly dry, brighter and warmer come afternoon.
Leading into the shortened work week, Tuesday should take on better weather, with a high of 76, clouds and perhaps some sun.
