NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – New York City is experiencing its coldest air since February, with temps in the 30s and RealFeels in the 20s Wednesday, but it will be dry and not too cold during the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

Tuesday was the coldest day so far this season and the coldest since Feb. 28, which was the last time temps failed to reach 40 degrees in Central Park.

While it was very cold Wednesday morning, less intense winds made conditions slightly more tolerable. The day started with temps in the 20s and RealFeels in the teens, but the mercury will warm to 39 in Central Park by the afternoon, according to AccuWeather.

The blustery weather will subside by Thursday, when temps will rise to a high of 48 in Central Park under sunny skies.

It will be even warmer on Friday as highs top 50 in the city. But the warmup will also bring clouds and rain. Showers are forecast for the afternoon.

The weekend starts cloudy but dry Saturday, with a high around 50.
