NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — After multiple storms coated New York City in snow this past week, even more slush is expected to pour down on Wednesday, continuing the recent onslaught of winter weather.

The afternoon will be cloudy with a few flurries as temperatures hit a high of 36, AccuWeather said. Snow will come early in the night, changing to rain in the city, on Long Island and at the Jersey Shore.

Snow will change to ice, then late into the night rain will fall in the northern suburbs. Temperatures will drop to a low of 34 before slowly rising.

A slushy coating of up to an inch may accumulate before the change, mainly north and west of the city, AccuWeather said. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place north of I-287 from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 9 a.m. the next morning.

The National Weather Service forecasts half an inch of snow with a wintry mix of rain and sleet in the city, and city agencies have advised New Yorkers to exercise caution while traveling and dress warmly.

NYC Sanitation issued another Winter Operations Advisory beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and the city Department of Transportation suspended alternate side parking regulations on Thursday to facilitate snow operations.

Thursday will see periods of rain in the morning, but will become milder in the afternoon as the sun breaks through. The high will hit 48.

But the relatively balmy bout won’t last, AccuWeather said. Friday will be mostly sunny but blustery and cold with a high of 37, leading into another weekend of precipitation.

A storm is expected Saturday, pouring snow, sleet and rain down on the city over periods in the afternoon. The high will hit 38, and mixed precipitation will turn into straight rain by nighttime.

The storm will continue into Sunday morning, but it will be much milder in the afternoon before temperatures plummet early next week.
