NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Blistering heat will sweep over the New York City area on Wednesday, compounding with humidity to push RealFeel temperatures towards 100 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

It will be a sunny, hot and humid with a high of 92 in Manhattan.

Southwesterly winds will push away Tuesday’s smoky haze from Canada, but it will also bring back the punishing humidity that’s expected to send RealFeels to at least the upper 90s and maybe even the triple digits.

The air quality will also be compromised because of elevated ozone layers. The Air Quality Index in the city was at a “moderate” level of about 60 in the morning.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday for all five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester and Rockland counties, as well as parts of New Jersey and coastal Connecticut.

Monday night will be warm and steamy. Lows will only cool to about 75 in the city.

The heat and humidity will linger into Thursday, when it will otherwise be partly sunny and stormy.

The high will be around 90 with RealFeels closer to 100.

Central Park fell just shy of 90 degrees on Tuesday, so it's unlikely there will be an official heat wave of three consecutive 90-degreee days there this week.

Thunderstorms will be around on both Saturday and Sunday, when highs will be in the upper 80s.
