NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A nor’easter will batter the Tri-State this weekend with a nasty mix of wind, rain and coastal flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning from Friday evening to Sunday evening for a swath of the area, including Long Island and most of New York City. There are also wind and flood advisories in place for much of the area into Sunday, including a high wind warning for the Jersey Shore.
Wind and rain will gradually overspread the area Friday before the storm moves in Saturday and Saturday night, according to AccuWeather.

Wind-driven rain may cause flooding, travel disruptions and power outages, especially east of the city. About 2 to 3 inches of rain are expected in the five boroughs, with locally higher amounts possible.
Gusts could near 50 mph in the city, and 60 mph on Long Island, at the height of the storm late Saturday, AccuWeather said.
Sunday and Monday could see lingering rain and wind before dry weather returns on Tuesday. Highs throughout the storm are expected to be in the low 60s.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said a travel advisory will be in effect for the city from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.
“The forecast path of this storm has moved closer to our city, and it is bringing more rain and stronger winds with it,” the mayor said. “City workers are clearing catch basins, preparing for downed trees and positioning emergency resources in areas that could see coastal flooding."
The mayor urged people to be careful when traveling and to give themselves extra time. He also warned people who live in basement apartments to be ready to move to higher ground. New Yorkers can sign up for emergency alerts by texting NOTIFYNYC to 692-692.
